Introduction

Before the day of the pecan orchard, pecan trees were often found near rivers and when the conditions were right, pecan groves would flourish.  Since the introduction of pecan farming, producing this native North American nut has become an art and a science. Most pecan trees found today in orchards are from seedlings, and improved varieties. Currently the demand for pecans has become a global market, and most of the pecans grown in the United States are bound for export, making the US the leader in pecan production. Native pecan farming is rooted along the Mississippi River Valley clear to Southern Mexico. However today, pecan farming is booming in the southwestern parts of the country, giving birth to pecan farming in Arizona and the Arizona Pecan Grower’s Association.

Thank You for Visiting the Arizona Pecan Growers Association Webpage!
